IOT Enabled Curtains
This project will use an arduino and a repurposed tepper motor to open and close blackout curtains.
Project Details / Background
I will use an arduino nano IOT which will interface with IFTTT and subsequently Google Home to allow the curtains to be opened and closed with a voice command or as part of a routine. The motivation behind this project is that I have a very bright street lamp directly outside my bedroom window, and the current layout of the room doesn't allow easy access for me to open or close the curtains myself.
This project will use a NEMA 17 stepper motor from my first (actually usable) 3D printer, a Robo 3D R1. In the proof of concept phase, this project will use an Arduino Uno to test motor driver boards and code.
Project Status: I have been able to acquire a Nano IOT, which have previously been unavailable. This summer, many my projects are put on hold due to my internship at NASA Ames, but the mechanical system is still under development in SolidWorks.
